Where Anxious Minds Learn to Rest

You Don’t Have an Insomnia Problem. You Have an Anxiety-About-Sleep Problem.

If nights have become something you dread instead of rest in, you’re not broken — and you’re not alone. Close to one in four Canadian adults reports insomnia symptoms, and for many of them the real driver isn’t the sleep itself. It’s the anxiety that builds around it: the clock-watching, the dread at 9 p.m., the mental math about tomorrow’s meeting.
I’m trained in CBT-I through 37 contact hours with the University of Pennsylvania’s Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program and hold Precision Nutrition’s Level 2 Certified Master Coach credential. I work exclusively with adults whose sleep has been hijacked by anxiety, using the same evidence-based techniques the American College of Physicians recommends as the first-line treatment for chronic insomnia — without medication, without gimmicks, and without judgment.

Sound Familiar?

This pattern has a name: sleep-destructive anxiety. And it responds extremely well to the right kind of structured, science-based coaching.

Why CBT-I, and Why With Me

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the treatment the American College of Physicians recommends as the initial approach for every adult with chronic insomnia — ahead of sleeping pills, in a clinical guideline based on a review of the evidence. [^1] It works by addressing the actual mechanics of the problem: the behaviours that unintentionally reinforce poor sleep, and the anxious thought patterns that keep your nervous system too activated to let go.
What I bring to that framework is a specific focus on the anxiety side of the equation. Plenty of people can recite the rules of sleep hygiene. Far fewer have a coach who understands why an anxious mind fights sleep, and how to work with that mind rather than against it.
